GLAZE BROOKE

- A HEAVEN IN THE WORLD OF HELL

A beautiful life was gone and gone,

When the school reopens in June,

We settled with new desks and benches,

When we quenched up in book depot;

Got our new books and notes!

When we wanted 2 Sundays and no Mondays;

Yet we managed to line up silently for morning prayers.

We began drawing with crayons and colour pencils;

Finally evolved to sketch pens and paints,

We started calculating with tables,

Evolved to Clark’s tables but soon;

Advanced to calculators.

We chased one another in the corridors,

Which now reminds us “the childhood fun”?

We played with bat and ball,

And returned to the class drenched in sweat!

But now with papers and marks;

Which rolled as balls and runs?

Two P.T. periods in the weeks time table,

Were awaited more eagerly than the monsoons;

Gone are the days of Sports day and Annual day,

And a month long preparations for them.

Gone are the days of stressful quarterly, half-yearly,

And Annual day and the most,

Enjoyed holidays after them.

Our travel begins here, leaving our tutors behind.

Gone are the days, but not the memories;

Which lingers in our hearts for ever and ever?

And ever and ever.
